Sunday on Stone Street, NYC
A cobblestoned oasis between William and Beaver Street is waiting for anyone looking for some fun, great selections of food, and a little slice of Europe in the heart of NY’s Financial District.
One of the oldest streets in the city dating back to 1660, it was originally called Brewers Street then Duke Street in the 1700s, and finally Stone street in the early 1800s.
An outdoor back alley rediscovered and filled with picnic tables, four pubs, and at least a half a dozen restaurants, including a Norwegian Smorgasbord, a German Bier und Wurst Haus, an American Oyster house, a French Patisserie, Dubliners Irish pub, Becketts bar and more.
A great place to enjoy a lively Sunday afternoon, or evening surrounded by historic buildings, and a little flavor of “Neue Amsterdam”. Def. a people magnet, and worth the trip whether to have some wine and watch the goings on, or explore some international cuisine.
